Ethical
Guidelines For Web Designers
- Make pages
for users, not for search engines.
- Avoid tricks
intended to improve search engine rankings. Think about your
page as if you were the user searching the site with your
key words and say to yourself is this what I was looking for?
- Exchange
links with sites that have similar content. We also use the
Google Page Rank and a site at least has to have a 1. The
higher the rank the more importance we place on the sites
content before we will exchange links.
- Don't use
unauthorized computer programs to submit pages, check rankings,
etc. Such programs consume computing resources and violate
the terms of service of some search engines. Google does not
recommend the use of products such as WebPosition Gold™ that
send automatic or programmatic queries to Google.
NO
Requirements of Optimization:
- NO hidden
text or hidden links.
- NO redirects.
- NO automated
queries.
- NO irrelevant
words.
- NO multiple
pages, subdomains, or domains with substantially duplicate
content.
- NO "doorway"
pages created just for search engines, or other "cookie cutter"
approaches such as affiliate programs with little or no original
content.
- NO Overuse
or repetition of keywords
- NO Use
of keywords that do not relate to the content of the site
- NO Use
of colored text on same-color background
- NO Duplication
of pages with different URLs
- NO Use
of different pages that bridge to the same URL
