Name
Choosing a web site/company name up the alphabet just like in real business
names helps more than ever with the Internet business. Since everything
you do is database related on the internet an "A" name almost
always comes before a "B" listing. This is not true with search
engines but it helps when doing link exchanges. Numbers in a name can
help you even more since most times numbers are listed before the alphabet.
When making link exchanges it can make a difference if you are on the
first page whether the search engines even see your link. Most search
engines do not crawl deeply into link exchange databases.

Pay Per Click Listings For Free
Pay Per Click Search
Engines are just like any other search engine except you have to pay
for each click someone makes to get to your site. To use them for free
deposit the minimum required then only bid .01 on the keywords related
to your site that cost much more for top positions. What this will do
is list you in their massive database but due to the fact your listing
is so far down the list hardly ever will anyone click through to your
site. If they do it only costs you .01. How
Does This Help. Many free search engines use the Pay
Per Click Data Bases to improve the quality of their own search results.
They figure that if a company is paying for advertising then it has
quality products and services.
I even go a step further and look at what people are bidding on key
phrases related to my sites content. If for .02 or .03 I can get position
3 or 4 in the search results for good related clicks then I use this

that people will search for, you just have to know what they are. That

Keywords
Terms Not Used
Many keyword terms are searched for everyday on the internet that very
web masters use. For example "Gift Ideas" might have one million
web masters utilizing it in their Page Title but "Gift Ideas For
Animal Lovers" may only have 100 web masters using it in its entirety.

What
this means is that if you use "Gift Ideas" Alone in your pages
title you are competing with 1,000,000 other web masters for those 1,000,000
searches of that exact search term. But if you use the term "Gift
Ideas For Animal Lovers" in your pages Title then you only have
100 web masters to compete with for 10,000 searches. The latter most
likely will bring you much better targeted web traffic assuming your
page has "Gift Ideas For Animal Lovers."

Hosting
Service
The hosting Service you choose to use can have a big affect on how your
future marketing goes. Search engines look for reliability when placing
an index rating on a site. If your site is up and down due to poor server
functionality it will not matter how good of site optimization you use,
it will be penalized. The other thing is IP address locations. A host
that offers mostly free web hosting will get lower ranking pages than
one that does not offer any free space. When I changed service some
7 years ago I searched for the term "Top 100 Hosting Services"
at Google to get a list. There is several sites that do just that. The
one I found most consistently at the top was Ipowerweb Hosting. I moved
my sites to them and noticed that it was much easier for me to get keyword
terms listed into the search engines almost immediately. They now offer
two services, the second I have not tried.

should use it in deciding which pages to research more in depth. A higher
page rank means a better chance at getting good listings. You should
use it for theses types of optimization research.
Link
Exchange Page
So many web masters got the idea that more would be better. Many sites
are nothing more than advertisements and link exchanges. Other sites
have excellent content but do not really care about linking out of their
site. The thing to consider is not how good of a site someone has but
where will they put your link exchange. I have seen many sites that
have a 6 ranking with the Google tool bar but the when you look at their
link exchange page it has a big 0. This means that their site is indexed
really well but Google never crawls their link exchange page. If they
put your link on a page with a 0 indexing then you get nothing. I require
at least a 1 rating on the page our reciprocal link goes are I do exchange
link no matter how good the site is. Not to say that I do not link out
of the site for other reasons. If I find a site that offers nothing
more in return than just good content for my customers then I do it.
A customers needs must always come first over everything.
Misspelled
Words
There are so many words in the English language that normal people every
day do not know which is the right spelling. Most web masters use word
checkers though to check the site for correct spelling so this little
trick gets under used. You can use it ethically correct if the words
you use are common Misspelled words related to your sites content. It
might affect your reputation badly if you use it to the extremes though.
For example I thought that the spelling of "Animal" was "Annimal"
so did a lot of other people. My sites top keyword for a long time was
"Annimal" I did not know any better until I tried to use it
on a Google Adwords campaign and they would not allow it because it
was misspelled. Needless to say I did some research and found out they
were right. But what was important here, and they seemed to overlook
was that it was not wrong since the people searching for that word were
just like me and did not know the difference. They were getting what
they wanted and so was I. Another word that I am still not sure about
and really do not care is "Collectibles" or is it "Collectables".
Both on all of the keyword tools I have used have almost equal amount
of searches. My word processor for some reason accepts both as legitimate.
I do not own a Webster's Dictionary, so who cares. Wordtracker
that I mentioned above can help you find these under used Misspelled
words. But if you are like most people you probably will not need any
help finding them, just don't use a word processor and they will come
naturally.
Site
Content
The more content you have with keywords incorporated about your product
or service, the more likely your customers will find you. If you sell
vases and have a page that says, vase 1, vase 2, vase 3 and so on, then
that is how your customer will have to find you. In order to get the
search engines to locate you for people searching for your product you
must include as much of a description as possible within sensible limits.
For the example above supposing you carry oriental vases then you should
include this in the meta tags, at the the top of the page and often
within the text of the page.
DON"T OVER DO IT. THAT IS CONSIDERED SPAM AND CAN GET YOU
BLACK LISTED FOR THOSE WORDS.

Pages
Visit your competitors site and if they have a guest page, sign it.
Most include a link back to your site. I have seen that my pages have
been listed more than once from just signing guest pages. You can also
search the internet for the term "Sign Guest Page" and get
a quick list of places that will give you free links. You should include
an additional word in the search that relates to your products or service
to get the best selections for your site.
